Foods to Maintain Heart Health
Green Vegetable
Green vegetables, such as spinach and kale, are foods that are rich in minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants.
Whole Grain
Whole grains, such as brown rice, oats, barley, and quinoa, are heart-healthy high-fiber foods.
Berries
A variety of berries, including strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, are heart-healthy foods.
Avocado
is a source of heart-healthy monounsaturated fat and is associated with lower levels of bad cholesterol. One study looked at the effects of three cholesterol-lowering diets in 45 people with obesity, with one group eating one avocado per day. As a result, the group that ate avocados experienced a reduction in bad cholesterol, significantly lowering the risk of heart disease.
Dark Chocolate
The next heart-healthy food is dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants, such as flavonoids, which are good for the heart. A large study showed that consuming chocolate, at least five times per week, had a 57 percent lower risk of coronary heart disease than not eating chocolate.
