"Research, Development, and Industrialization of Lead Electrolytic Production Equipment for Large Polar Plate" was the first project representing CQUST which won the first prize of the science and technology award of the association of Nonferrous Metals Industry.

As one of the most important science technology awards in the nonferrous metal industry jointly organized and appraised by China Nonferrous Metal Industry Association and China Nonferrous Metal Society, China Nonferrous Metal Industry Science and Technology Award focuses on significant technological innovation in science and technology development, technology promotion, transformation of achievements and industrial application in the nonferrous metal industry. The award gives recognition to projects that demonstrate advanced S&T indicators, reliable and mature technologies, potential in social and economical impacts, significant in terms of boosting industrial and technological development, and improve the competitiveness of the industry market.

n recent years, the school has been committed to the guiding principle aims at building an open, industry-wise, application-based instituion with local characteristics. Based on the two majar industries, namely, Petroleum and Metallurgical, the school has been active in answering the needs of social economic development of Chongqing and has given priority to cultivation, application and transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Meanwhile, the school has been active joining discipline-related industry associations or societies, and have received more than 20 science and technology awards.
